Kelvin Scottish was formed in 1985 when the Scottish Bus Group was split from 7 to 11 companies in preparation for deregulation and privatisation. In comprised the former Midland Scottish depots at Cumbernauld, Kirkintilloch, Milngavie and Stepps and the former Central Scottish depot at Old Kilpatrick (Gavinburn).
Kelvin had many colourful liveries and the coachpainters must have been kept busy with the number of changes and variations adopted during Kelvintime! Kelvin also adopted yellow on blue new johnson font destination displays.
Fleetnumbers were initially letter and numbers similar to Midland fleetnumbers. These were renumbered in a scheme using four digits where the initial digit was either 1-bus 2-dual purpose 3-coach 4-citylink coach.
Kelvin Metrobus 1669 (B100PKS) has survived into preservation, click on the BestBusInTown link below for more info.
Many of these images are scans of photos that I have purchased. If you own copyright and would like your name added or have the image removed please get in touch. Enjoy the colourfest that was Kelvin Scottish! |
